据台湾媒体报道，新加坡媒体发展管理局于日前宣布，将在未来三年内拨款600万新元新台币1亿3800万元资助有助于学习的24款游戏进行开发。为此，媒体发展管理局将设立一个资源中心，支持这些领域的成长。

“这24款游戏不限于帮助传统的学校学习，也包括国防、医疗保健等其他领域的学习。 ” 媒体发展管理局在声明中指出，这个资源中心将在明年设立，将拥有最新的设备和游戏开发软体，并与本地合作伙伴或国际机构合作的课程，透过提供开发者能登入开发工具、平台和设施来加快游戏开发工作，以引导游戏的开发和建立。

业内人士推断，到2011年，全球的游戏产业产值预期将成长达到489亿新元，每年平均复合成长率达9.1%。保守估计，例如学习软体等“较严肃的游戏软体”，产值约为90亿新元。
