World of Warcraft update adds mult-threaded OpenGL on Intel iMacs

World of Warcraft is the popular online RPG available for both Mac OS X and Windows. The new v 2.01 (aka “Before the Storm” patch) release for Intel Macs, supports multithreaded OpenGL. Multithreaded OpenGL distibutes the processing of complex 3D graphics scenes between multiple processors or multiple processing cores. Blizzard claims that multithreaded OpenGL support can double the performance of World of Warcraft depending on your Mac’s hardware capabilities and the settings specified in the game. The new release also now allows players to accumulate honor points that can be spent like currency to purchase weapons, armor and other precious items.

WOW 的opengl在 intel的865的集成显卡上面显示是不对的。没人物。但是DX是好的。我试验过。本来我想wow这样精益求精的公司，应该可以拿来测显卡，结果不对。当然是window下面。

multithread支持本来应该是driver做的事情，现在却需要应用层做，看来mac的驱动支持某些厂商不是很主动也。

opengl用多线程不是要切换rendercontex么？不是说效率不高？

效率当然会不高啊。
你想，没个OpenGL调用的开始你都要保证这个线程拥有Context。。。。那还不恶心死了。

魔兽只是说为多线程做了优化，

而OpenGL多线程优化，苹果早在OS X10.4.x的最近一次更新中做了。
