[17th September 2007] FMOD Ex 4.08 and FMOD Designer 1.09 are out!
A large update of FMOD Ex API and FMOD Designer. Many months of testing and feedback have been used to create a solid new optimized build with some advanced new features!
Added support for 3D Virtual reverbs. Now reverb emitters can be placed all over the world and FMOD will automatically morph and fade then according to proximity. FMOD's geometry API can be used to constrain reverb into odd shapes!
Added new 'HRTF' mode (Head-Related Transfer Function) to software mixed voices! 3D realism through headphones is now enhanced!
Added gapless/seamless mp2/mp3 looping support! mp2 and mp3 was not designed to loop, but FMOD has done it! Users do not have to worry about anything to do with the destination format, FMOD's encoder will just handle it perfectly for you every time!
Added multichannel mp3 support! 16 channel mp3 files can be created using fmod's custom encoder. Use this for seekless intlerleaved multitrack music! Great for mood tracks and interactive music!
Added Sound Groups! Now have the ability to group low level sounds handles and control their attributes as groups instead of individual sounds, such as maximum playbacks a virtual voice behaviour.
Mac CoreAudio support overhaul to handle a wider range of sound devices.
Added Vista native WASAPI support, for lower latency and more direct hardware support in Vista.
Updated and expanded ability to store sounds in RSX memory on PlayStation 3! This feature can save megabytes of main memory by storing sounds in graphics memory!
A lot of work has been done on non blocking behaviour so that your game never stalls even with lots of streams and wavebanks loading in the background.
FMOD Designer updates! Designer is now at version 1.09, changes include:
Added more randomization control to events, and new effects such as "3d orientation" to allow user filters depending on event angles to listener, and more!
New detailed Event Player application added to preview compiled FEV/FSB projects.
Added project merging.
Added ASIO support and custom ASIO channel mapping.
Many user interface improvements, including tree views, soloing, multiple select options and cut and paste features.
Important stable/experimental version information
